Data Engineering Internship (New York, USA) at WFP

The WFP’s Data & Analytics team is seeking a talented Data Engineering Intern for an in-person internship in New York. This is an excellent chance for a motivated student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in modern data engineering practices while making a real-world impact.

This data engineering internship is designed to provide you with exposure to real-world projects that support the organization’s intelligence, reporting, and data operations. As a data engineering intern, you will work closely with a team of experienced professionals in a fast-paced environment, contributing directly to humanitarian efforts around the globe.

 

Key Responsibilities for this ICT Intern

  • Help integrate data from various internal and external sources.

  • Support the cleaning, transformation, and structuring of raw data for analytics.

  • Work with cloud services (SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.) and/or data platforms.

  • Document processes and assist with data quality checks and debugging.

  • Collaborate with analysts, network administrators, and software engineers on data-related projects.

  • Assist with any additional tasks as determined by the circumstances and qualifications of the incumbent.

 

Qualifications and Experience for the Data Engineering Internship

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within six months) of an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Must have completed at least two years of an undergraduate program.

  • Must be a US resident, citizen, or hold an F-1 visa with OPT authorization.

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or similar programming languages.

  • Basic understanding of data structures, APIs, and database concepts.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Excellent command of English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to cloud computing or big data tools.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Publisher).

This is an in-person internship located at the WFP Global Office in New York, USA. The internship lasts for 3 months and is renewable. Interns receive a monthly stipend of up to US$1,000.
