About the Department of Operational Support (DOS)

The United Nations Department of Operational Support (DOS) empowers UN Secretariat entities, including peace operations, departments, and offices. DOS achieves this by providing rapid, effective, efficient, and responsible support services. Its core services, moreover, include supply chain management, operational human resources, health-care management, capacity building, support for uniformed capabilities, special situations support, information and communications technology (ICT) support, and UNHQ facility management. The Office of the Under-Secretary-General of Operational Support (OUSG-DOS) provides direct advisory, executive, and management support to DOS leadership, particularly to the Under-Secretary-General. This internship position falls within the Performance and Analytics Section (PAS) of OUSG-DOS. Our work, consequently, covers DOS strategy and planning, performance, analytics, and innovation. PAS supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of strategic and budget frameworks. It also undertakes problem-solving and analytics deliverables for continuous transformation and overall organizational performance of the Department.


 

Your Role as a Data Analytics & BI Intern

The Data Analytics & BI Intern will work as a full team member within the Performance Analytics Section at the Office of the Under-Secretary-General, Department of Operational Support (PAS/OUSG/DOS). You will pursue project assignments specifically designed to significantly impact DOS’s work. Furthermore, you will gain opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. This internship is unpaid and typically full-time (under exceptional circumstances, we may accept a part-time internship). Ideally, interns work five days per week (35 hours), with supervision and support from a staff member. Interns expect to come into the office at least three days a week, in keeping with UNHQ-NY hybrid working policies. Please note, we will not consider fully remote internships for this specific opportunity. PAS strongly favors candidates who can undertake this internship in-person from NYHQ.
