As a Programme Management Intern, you will help monitor, identify, and analyze global trends related to sustainable development. You will also support preparing analytical reports, papers, talking points, background notes, correspondences, key messages, video remarks, interviews, and daily briefs for senior officials. Specific Responsibilities of the Programme Management Intern
As a Programme Management Intern, your duties will include:
Global Trend Analysis & Reporting

You will help monitor, identify, and analyze global trends related to sustainable development. This involves, for instance, focusing on specific thematic tracks detailed below.

You will support preparing diverse communication materials for senior officials. These include analytical reports, papers, talking points, background notes, and daily briefs.
Thematic Focus Areas (Please specify your preferred track in your cover letter):
1. Finance for Development
You will assist with analysis and research for the Secretary-General’s Finance Strategy. Moreover, you will support workstreams related to Financing for Development (FfD), including preparations for key upcoming events and relevant multilateral processes (e.g., G20, BRICS, COP). You will also provide ad-hoc support to the Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda as needed.
2. Environment
You will support preparations and monitor outcomes of high-level summits related to environmental policies. These include, for example, COP 31 on climate change, the 2026 UN Water Conference, and the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. You will also stay abreast of institutional processes for reducing plastic pollution and other environmental goals.
3. Health
You will support the Secretary-General’s efforts to strengthen global health systems. This involves advancing pandemic preparedness, promoting universal health coverage, and advocating for mental health. You will also contribute to developing institutional capacity for health services in underserved regions.
4. Gender
You will support the Secretary-General’s office mandate. This ensures gender equality worldwide through equal labor opportunities, remuneration, and recognition. You will also protect women and girls from discrimination and violence, and increase gender empowerment opportunities.
5. Governance, Peace and Security
You will support analysis, initiatives, forums, and engagements on humanitarian, peace, and development matters. Furthermore, you will contribute to monitoring, analysis, and engagement on priority regions (e.g., Sahel, Horn of Africa, Haiti). You will also collaborate with the African Union, and address climate security and development in complex settings. You will contribute to aspects of United Nations reform.
6. Disability Inclusion and Leaving No One Behind
You will support the coordinated implementation of the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy. This includes contributing to collecting good practices, research, analysis, monitoring, technical assistance, and outreach to external stakeholders. You will also support initiatives related to the 2030 Agenda’s commitment to Leave No One Behind.
7. SDG Data
You will contribute to implementing priority use cases under the Secretary-General’s Data Strategy. Specifically, you will assist with data financing fundraising efforts, support advocacy to fill SDG data gaps, and improve United Nations data distribution.
8. Sustainable Food Systems
You will support the team in advancing Office efforts related to sustainable food systems. Ultimately, this leads to greater food security, local livelihoods, and reduced GHG emissions in the sector. You will also support relevant projects to accelerate food systems’ transformation.
