2025 Internship | UN Global Compact (Unpaid, NYC/Remote)
The UN Global Compact Office (in its New York office for 2025. This is a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in corporate sustainability and support the mission of the United Nations. Furthermore, this internship is available in person in New York City or remotely, and you can choose between a full-time or part-time schedule.
About the Internship
The UN Global Compact is the entity responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Global Compact initiative, which aims to make its 10 principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption part of business strategy and operations everywhere. Therefore, as an intern, you will contribute to this mission while working with one of several teams, including Programmes, Communications, Marketing, and Government Affairs.

UNGCO internship opportunities
Your Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a UNGCO staff member, you will carry out a range of responsibilities. In particular, you will:

Conduct research on corporate sustainability topics.

Draft and edit publications, papers, and other documents. In addition, you will liaise with Global Compact stakeholders on key topics.

Support the organization of meetings and events. Moreover, you will assist with outreach activities and handle general inquiries.

Finally, you will perform administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications

Education: You must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program. Similarly, you may be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor’s level).

Skills: You should have strong computer literacy in standard software applications, including Excel. Consequently, you must demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.

Experience: In fact, no prior work experience is required to apply for this internship.

Languages: You must be fluent in English.
Key Logistics & Application for UN Global Compact Internship

Duration & Commitment: The internship lasts for a minimum of three months, with a possibility of extension up to six months. You must work five days a week (35 hours) for a full-time commitment. On the other hand, part-time arrangements are also considered.

Start Dates: You can choose to begin in Fall 2025 (commencing in September) or Winter 2025 (commencing in December). Ultimately, you must clearly indicate your preferred period in your application.
