Organization: United Nations Human Security Unit (HSU) Location: Remote (Based in New York, USA) Job Type: Internship (Unpaid)The Remote Outreach Intern UN is a unique remote UN internship opportunity with the United Nations Human Security Unit (HSU). By joining our team, you will contribute to the HSU’s objective of integrating the human security approach into the work of the UN system. By assisting with outreach and resource mobilization, you will play a pivotal role in translating this approach into concrete outcomes. Today, for example, we mainstream the principles of human security in key global agendas. We are looking for an intern to work for a period of 3 to 6 months, ideally starting in September 2025.
Your Role as a Remote Outreach Intern UN
You will conduct this UN remote internship with the HSU entirely remotely. You can choose to work either full-time or part-time (20-35 hours/week), and a staff member will supervise your work. As a Resource Mobilization Intern, you will undertake research and develop strategies for short, medium, and long-term outreach and resource mobilization for the UN Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS).
Your key responsibilities for this Outreach Intern role include:

Event Support: You will assist staff in the organization and implementation of outreach events. This includes, specifically, supporting logistics, updating contact lists, and drafting key materials such as concept notes, agendas, and meeting summaries.

Donor Management: To this end, you will help develop a system to manage donor information, tracking relevant analysis, background documents, and communications. This is a key part of the Resource Mobilization and Outreach Intern experience.

Communications: Furthermore, you will contribute to the preparation of communications materials and donor documents. For instance, you will provide inputs for the donor package, draft social media posts to raise visibility, and undertake media analysis.

Qualifications for a Remote Outreach Intern UN
To qualify for this Remote Outreach Intern UN position, you must meet one of the following requirements:

You are currently enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent or higher).

Alternatively, you are enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
While we do not require professional work experience for this UN internship, you should have training, education, or skills that will benefit the United Nations during your assignment.

Additional Information
This is an unpaid internship. Consequently, you are responsible for all costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses. For internships in the United States, candidates who are not US citizens or permanent residents will need to obtain a G-4 visa.
