About this NAFSA Internship
The KDEV team drives NAFSA’s efforts to advance higher education internationalization, producing key publications, thought leadership, and trend analyses. Furthermore, the team provides robust conference and program content for professionals in the field. The department shares this internship position among its units, and you will report to the Associate Director, Conference & Global Engagement, who will help coordinate your assigned projects.

Knowledge Development Intern
Key Responsibilities
From September through mid-December, you will play a hands-on role in supporting the team’s key projects. For instance, you will:

Conference Support: Assist with preparations for the Annual Conference Committee’s fall meeting, including logistics and agenda development. You will also help prepare webinar presentations.

Content & Analysis: Compile and analyze 2026 global session proposals, identifying gaps in regions. Consequently, you will create social media content to promote NAFSA publications and programs, which advance international education.

Program Assistance: Provide assistance on internationalization activities the KDEV team manages, such as the Senior Leader Summit and international visitor groups. This is a key part of your work during this NAFSA internship.
Qualifications

Skills: The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter. You must have proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications, especially Excel and Word. Additionally, experience with Zoom and social media platforms is required.

Interpersonal: You must demonstrate excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

Interests: An interest in or knowledge of higher education, global affairs, event planning, and project management is preferred. This is an ideal role to launch a career in international education.

Work Authorization: You must have authorization to work in the U.S. without NAFSA’s sponsorship. NAFSA welcomes students with valid work authorization, including those completing their curricular practical training (CPT) or optional practical training (OPT).
Compensation & Logistics
This is a part-time position, requiring up to 20 hours per week. The compensation is $18.00 per hour, with the opportunity for prorated holiday and retirement benefits if you are eligible. The expected duration for the internship is from September through mid-December
