About the Role: International Tax Intern

This internship offers hands-on experience in the field of international tax cooperation. You will, therefore, directly contribute to DESA’s ongoing work in this critical area. This position helps shape global dialogues and policies, making it an ideal fit for an aspiring International Tax Intern (Remote/Hybrid).

Please note: This internship offers no payment and requires full-time commitment. Depending on your situation, we may also provide Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA). These, for example, include fully remote, hybrid (in-person and remote), part-time, and/or temporary FWA for G-4 visa processing.

What You’ll Bring: Qualifications as a International Tax Intern

Education:

You must, first and foremost, meet one of the following requirements:

  • You are currently enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

  • Alternatively, you are currently enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

  • Furthermore, you must be a student in the final year of your first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or you must have already completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PH.D. Programme.

  • Important: If you meet any of these criteria, please indicate which one and attach proof to your application. You will, moreover, need to provide an official certificate at a later stage.

Skills and Experience:

  • You must possess computer literacy in standard software applications.

  • You do not need professional work experience for the UN Internship Programme.

  • However, your field of study must directly relate to the type of internship for which you apply.

Languages:

  • English and French serve as the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

  • You must possess fluency in spoken and written English for the Internship Programme.

  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) offers an advantage.


Internship Conditions & Important Information

Financial Aspects:

  • This internship offers no payment.

  • The United Nations does not financially compensate interns.

  • Interns or their sponsoring institutions assume sole responsibility for costs and arrangements including travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.

  • UNDP does not reimburse medical insurance for interns.

  • Interns assume responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness during the internship.

Visa and Work Authorization:

  • If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the country where you undertake the internship, you may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.

  • Successful candidates should, therefore, discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
