The United Nations is seeking a motivated Financial Information Intern to join the Office of Programme Planning, Finance and Budget (OPPFB). This is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in finance, data analysis, and machine learning within a global organization. You will work in the Contributions and Cost Recovery Service, and we offer a flexible work arrangement, including hybrid, remote, or in-person options. Therefore, we are looking for an intern to work for a minimum of 3 months, with a possibility to extend up to 6 months.


 

The Internship: Your Role in Financial Information

The UN’s Office of Programme Planning, Finance and Budget (OPPFB) provides strategic value-added services for program budgeting and financial operations. As a Financial Information Intern, you will support the team in the administration and further development of the Global Intern Network on Microsoft Teams. You will have a focus on financial data and modeling. Consequently, we designed this internship for a full-time schedule, but we can adjust it to a part-time schedule (20 hours per week) if needed.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Data Review: You will review data, conduct testing, and provide timely support to team members.

  • Reporting: In addition, you will assist in drafting and preparing presentations and reports.

  • Data Analysis: To be specific, you will collect, clean, and analyze data relevant to predictive modeling tasks.

  • Machine Learning: Furthermore, you will provide inputs to building machine learning models using regression, decision trees, and ensemble methods.

  • Performance Evaluation: Ultimately, you will help evaluate model performance and iterate based on your findings.

Who We’re Looking For: Qualifications and Skills

To qualify for this Financial Information Intern position, you must meet one of the following requirements:

  • You are enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

  • Alternatively, you are enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).

While we do not require professional work experience, you must have fluency in spoken and written English.
