Internship: Research Programmatic Impact & Scale at UNICEF


The UNICEF Internship Remote offers a fully remote internship to support the Programme Group’s new thought leadership initiative. Ultimately, we need a motivated student or recent graduate with strong research and analytical skills to help us advance evidence-based policy for children worldwide.

Consequently, you will have a unique opportunity to gain exposure to UNICEF’s analytical work, contribute to thought leadership initiatives, and reinforce the organization’s mission.

About the Internship

This UNICEF Internship Remote is a full-time, four-month position (September to December 2025) within the Programme Group’s Director’s Office. The Research Intern UNICEF will provide analytical and coordination support across five core streams focused on programmatic impact and scale. For instance, you can expect to:

  • Assist in selecting reading materials and coordinating book club sessions.

  • Support coordination between UNICEF and partner universities.

  • Conduct literature reviews on emerging global issues affecting children.

  • Help gather and analyze case studies for a new e-journal, and also provide editorial support.

Qualifications

First, you must be a graduate student (or a recent graduate within the past two years) with a preferred major in Economics, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, or a related field. Second, excellent research, writing, and analytical skills are required. In addition, you must be proficient in MS Office applications. Third, fluency in English is essential, however, knowledge of another official UN language is a strong asset. Finally, you must be at least 18 years old and hold proof of medical insurance. Above all, a demonstrated interest in UNICEF’s policy and research work is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

You will receive a monthly stipend as per UNICEF guidelines, unless your university provides a financial stipend. Beyond compensation, this UNICEF Internship gives you an opportunity to gain familiarity with the United Nations system and critical issues that impact children globally. Lastly, the internship is fully remote, and we encourage a flexible schedule to accommodate different time zones.
