Position Summary


As a Writing Intern, you will provide administrative support to Anera’s communications team. In addition, this position offers a great opportunity to further your knowledge and experience in communications within a fast-paced office environment. Consequently, you will also explore the development sector as a whole. You must be detail-oriented, able to juggle competing priorities, and possess strong writing and research skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Create Content: You will research and write relevant reports for publication, assist with informational materials and social media content, and convert technical proposals into external-facing content.

  • Simplify Language: You will copywrite to simplify language, thereby ensuring consistent branding and accessible reading levels for public consumption.

  • Organize and Edit: Ultimately, you will edit success stories and other materials for publication on Anera’s website and organize photos from program staff for use in publications.

  • Support Research: You will support original research by finding sources and secondary materials.

What You’ll Need


  • Education: You must pursue a writing-intensive major such as English, political science, history, or a related field of study.

  • Experience: You must have extensive writing experience. In fact, we prefer candidates with social media experience.

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the eastern MENA region is preferred.

Compensation & Logistics for Writing Intern


  • Pay: This is a paid internship at $17.50 per hour.

  • Schedule: This is a part-time internship. Therefore, you must follow a consistent, regular working schedule of at least 15 hours per week.

  • Location: This is a remote internship opportunity. We prefer candidates in the Eastern Time Zone. As a result, we will also consider candidates who are remote within the U.S. in a state where we can legally hire them.
